Environment Month
Small Actions, Big Impact
Earth Month is a time to reflect on our connections with the planet and to commit to making a difference. Easy to feel overwhelmed by the scale of the environmental challenges, but the small actions can make a big difference if we all do them. This month, I have focused on simple ways through which I can reduce my footprint and contribute to a healthier environment.
Collecting plastic and bottles.
The really small trash does not seem to matter much either, but it can really make a difference in the environment. Litter from all this small trash has a negative impact on the environment; it pollutes waterways, hurts animals, and ruins our parks and public places. A minute or two spent collecting litter helps keep my community healthy and clean.
Reducing energy consumption.
Energy is another significant source of greenhouse gases. I can cut the amount of energy used on low-energy appliances, turn off lights when one leaves a room, and walk or bike to get short distances instead of driving.
Planting a tree.
These absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen, so this is an essential thing that the planet needs to breathe properly. Trees also improve air quality, reduce soil erosion, and provide wildlife habitats. It is one easy gesture a person can execute that makes a change in the environment
Water-saving
A lot of water supply is composed of water. This is a crucial resource, therefore we need to use it cautiously. I can save it by shortening my showers, fixing leaks, and watering my lawn less frequently.
Using reusable bags for groceries
Plastic bags are a major source of pollution, so using reusable bags is a simple way to reduce waste.
Together we can do something for our earth. Let us all strive to make small steps toward a more sustainable future.
